Weekend Overview
The Comox Valley Glacier Kings faced a pivotal back-to-back stretch, hosting the Port Alberni Bombers on Saturday before welcoming the North Division-leading Oceanside Generals on Sunday. Both games carried weight for playoff positioning and momentum as January heats up.
Game 1: Port Alberni Bombers @ Comox Valley Glacier Kings (Jan 3)
Final Score: Comox Valley 2 – Port Alberni 1
This one was a grind. Port Alberni struck first late in the opening frame when Ethan Unger converted on the power play at 17:34, assisted by Logan Meyer. Despite being down early, Comox Valley stayed patient and turned the tide in the third period.
A Boarding Major by Troy Zajac in the 3rd committed on Forward Teagan Clayton led to two power-play goals in quick succession which flipped the script: Sheldon Alexander tied it at 9:18, and Kyle Mayenburg buried the game-winner at 10:47, both assisted by Suhaan Nagra. Teagan Clayton did not return to the game and was seen in a sling on Sunday.

This game went exactly as we had predicted in our preview last week. It was a tight checking affair. Joe Naccarato kept the Bombers in this game as he was solid in net stopping multiple chances. It came down to Special teams at the end of the night which is so often does, and the Kings were able to capitalize on a 5 minute major power play mid way through the 3rd period.
Game 2: Oceanside Generals @ Comox Valley Glacier Kings (Jan 4)
Final Score: Oceanside 4 – Comox Valley 3 (OT)
Sunday brought drama. Oceanside jumped ahead 2–1 after the first, but Comox Valley clawed back thanks to newcomer Easton Sangris, who scored twice, including a power-play marker in the opening frame. Landen May tied it in the third, forcing overtime.
In the extra frame, Jacob Leamy sealed the win on a great individual effort for Oceanside just 29 seconds in, completing his two-goal night.

Glacier Kings were the better team in the 3rd period outshooting Oceanside 20-9 in the period. This was enough to force an overtime, after Landon May tied the game 7:28 into the 3rd period. However Jacob Leamy with a fantastic solo effort in overtime, driving wide on the defense down the right wing and burying a goal short side on netminder Silas Dromarsky sealed the two points for the Generals.

Looking Ahead
Comox Valley faces another tough game at home with a divisional matchup looming, Nanaimo Buccaneers coming to town on Friday Jan9th. Port Alberni, meanwhile, continues its fight to stay in the playoff picture and hang onto that 8th seed with critical games against Westshore and a divisional matchup against the Storm.
